Glasgow City Council
Historically GAP has had involvement with five council departments - Development and Regeneration Services; Social Work Services; Cultural and Leisure Services; Land Services; and Building Services. Some of these are now 'Arms Length' organisation. Our more recent involvement has included the following:
1) GAP delivered a seminar on disabled access for planning staff working in Development and Regeneration and Land Services. This included a technical lecture on the legislation as well as a short video on members experiences accessing Glasgow City Centre. Attendance at the event was large and we anticipate delivering more such seminars in the future.
2) Our second major mystery shopping exercise took place in the first half of 2008. This was carried out on behalf of Financial Service at GCC and covered their their council Tax and Housing Benifit offices. A copy of GAP's report is available here and the subsequent Financial Service Equality review will be made available here as soon as it is released.
3) GAP has continued it's involvement with the Glasgow City Plan in our efforts to ensure that inclusive access is central to any development in Glasgow from 2008-2013.
